Japanese One Piece Card Game Booster Boxes: A Guide for Card Shops

Updated 2026-10-12 · 6 min read

Japanese One Piece Card Game booster boxes are one of the main products card shops outside Japan source from Japan. This guide covers what is inside a Japanese box, how Japanese and English sets relate, how rarities are shown, how the cards can be used in play, and which Japanese One Piece products you can order from us.

1. What is inside a Japanese box

Japanese and English One Piece boxes look alike from the outside — both hold 24 packs — but the packs are not the same size:

ProductPacks per boxCards per pack
Japanese booster box
e.g. The World's Strongest Warriors [OP-17]
246
Japanese premium booster box
e.g. ONE PIECE CARD THE BEST vol.2 [PRB-02]
1010 (at least one Super Rare or higher per pack)
English booster box2412

A Japanese booster box therefore holds 144 cards and an English booster box 288. When you compare the two, compare by pack and card count rather than by the word "box". Japanese extra boosters (EB), such as Egghead Crisis [EB-04], also have 6 cards per pack.

2. Set codes and English editions

Every One Piece set has a code that tells you the product type and its place in the series:

Unlike some other card games, One Piece uses the same set code in Japanese and in English, so [OP-15] is the same set in both languages. That makes ordering simple: every One Piece booster box in our catalog shows its code in the name.

The English edition of a set usually comes out after the Japanese one. Release dates differ from set to set, so check the date on each product rather than assuming a fixed gap.

3. Rarities

Japanese One Piece sets list their cards by rarity on the official product page. A recent extra booster, ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2 [EB-05], for example, is made up of:

The mix differs by set — booster packs [OP] and extra boosters [EB] are not built the same way — so read the official card list for the set your customers are interested in. Premium boosters also include parallel versions of cards.

4. Language and tournament play

Japanese cards are printed in Japanese. For collectors, that does not change what they are buying. For competitive players it matters: official Bandai events in Europe and North America are played with English cards, and Japanese cards are generally not accepted there.

Store events and casual play can follow their own rules, and Bandai updates its tournament rules from time to time. Check Bandai's current rules, or ask the event organiser, before telling a customer whether a card can be used at a particular event.

5. What we carry

Our One Piece catalog lists Japanese booster boxes from Romance Dawn [OP-01] onwards, extra boosters [EB], premium boosters [PRB] and other Japanese One Piece products such as Premium Card Collections and promo cards. Availability is shown on each product page. We sell Japanese product only for the One Piece Card Game.

If you want to buy by the carton — a sealed case of several boxes — contact us and we will discuss availability directly. One thing to know for customs: a magazine that comes with a promo card is declared as a magazine (HS 4902.90), not as trading cards — see the HS code table in our sourcing guide.

6. Ordering

To order, you register a free B2B account, add items to your cart and send a quote request; we reply with a formal quotation, usually within 24 hours. Our guide to sourcing Japanese trading cards from Japan explains every step — payment, shipping, import duty and damage claims.

Frequently asked questions

How many packs are in a Japanese One Piece Card Game booster box?

A Japanese One Piece booster box, such as Romance Dawn [OP-01] or The World's Strongest Warriors [OP-17], holds 24 packs of 6 cards. Premium boosters are different: ONE PIECE CARD THE BEST vol.2 [PRB-02] holds 10 packs of 10 cards.

How is a Japanese One Piece booster box different from an English one?

Both hold 24 packs, but a Japanese pack has 6 cards and an English pack has 12. So a Japanese box holds 144 cards and an English box 288. Compare products by pack and card count, not by the word box.

Do Japanese and English One Piece sets use the same set codes?

Yes. One Piece sets carry the same code in both languages, for example OP-15. The English edition usually comes out after the Japanese one, so check the release date of each product.

Can Japanese One Piece cards be used at official tournaments in Europe or North America?

Official Bandai events in Europe and North America are played with English cards. Rules can change, so check Bandai's current tournament rules or ask the event organiser before advising a customer.

Does SORA CardShop sell English One Piece booster boxes?

No. SORA CardShop sells Japanese product only for the One Piece Card Game.
